There has been unabated growth in the cellular
subscribers. The figure has already crossed 8 Million mark in August 2002. This
is one of the fastest growing market in the present scenario, a growth rate of
about 50 percent per annum.
Yankee Group has predicted an Annual CAGR of 65 % for the mobile sector in
India and has estimated 30 million mobile users by the year 2005.
India has total of 22 Mobile Circles with atleast three players in each sircle.
Airtel has the largest coverage area on India covering 16 States. The
encouraging part of the Mobile growth is that there is increase in
the Category B and Category C circles which means that mobile phones are
penetrating the masses.
There are no studies as yet to show the correlation with the Satellite channel
viewers and the Mobile access. However it can be assumed that a person with
mobile phone will necessarily have the Television with the Satellite Channels. |
